Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. Joh 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
I just wanted to get this straight for the record. A Christian woman is to submit to her husband weather he is saved or not.
Let me give you all an example that I once heard a preacher give when I was in California and was listening to KWVE Christian radio.
There was a Christian wife married to an unsaved drunk of a man. So this husband would come home at 3 or 4 in the morning with his drunk buddies in toe. He would come in the house as loud as could be and go upstairs where his wife was sleeping. Then he would wake his wife so she could make her husband and his buddies breakfast. This husband did this to his wife for years and not once did his wife complain. Finally one day the husband said to the wife, "why do you put up with me? Why do you never complain?" And his very kind Christian wife responded as followed, "I want to give to as much comfort as I can here on Earth before you have to spend an eternity in Hell." That night that man was saved.
The moral of this story is that if that wife did not stay committed to doing God's work then her husband might have been lost and burned for an eternity.
So yes it would make a wife's job of submission much easier if her hubby is saved but what about the woman who gets saved after she is married? Even if the couple is unequally yoked the Christian wife must submit.

I agree with that as well...must have heard the same preacher LOL! I wasn't very specific when I said true Biblical marriage I guess...I didn't mean only if he was saved too. We go to a Calvary Chapel here locally and thoroughly enjoy the verse-by-verse teachings...they help keep verses in context!
Thanks for posting.
I agree, love is the key.
Hi Julie. Great post. Too many times we deceive ourselves into thinking that we don't have to submit to our husbands because we're "superior" to them somehow, especially if we're unequally yoked. God works through obedience.
As to the deep snow and where we live - we're in the northwest tip of the lower peninsula in Michigan. It's a snowbelt region and we get TONS of the white stuff. I've wanted to move in forever but am trying to patiently wait until it's the right time.
My hubby pointed out that if the shoe is on the other foot and it is the man that is a Christian then he is also called to obey and love the wife as Christ loves the church. Just thought that needed to be said.
Although I don't feel I should submit to my husband, I do agree to the fact that his being saved or not, is not relevant.
It wouldn't be very loving and christian, to think less of someone because he doesn't believe in Jesus Christ.
Thanks for dropping by! I loved your comment!
I love Jesus with all my heart, but I'm not certain I agree (in all cases, at least). I do believe that you should respect and love your husband, whether he is saved or not. But I don't think a woman should submit to a man who is borderline abusive.
I also do not think that this verse should be taken out of context. Husbands are supposed to love their wives as Christ loves the church. Whether or not our husbands love us in this way shouldn't affect the way we submit to him, but I do think that this verse should be quoted COMPLETELY, in order to communicate the beauty of a godly marriage.
I'm a Christian woman and I agree 100 %
Akirah, I am not sure what I am taking out of context. Would you please explain to me what exactly you are taking about. If you read my original post I was taking about myself and the verse totally applies so I think it would be great if you could explain yourself. Thank you and God bless.
Great post! I think Proverb 31 about the virtuous wife can help. I believe married couples have the responsibility to submit to one another. Christ loves the Church and the Church must submit to Christ and His teachings.
