Mother of Invention.

Sometimes as a mother you come across situations in your home that need an inventive solution. Like in our home the baby's car seat serves many purposes, it's a car seat, a baby carrier, a personal rocking chair for baby, and since she can not sit up yet it is also a feeding chair. So over the holidays my girls got so many toys that they out grew their toy box and everything started to spill over into the living room. I think that the minute I stepped on a toy because it was on the floor and I was holding the baby, everything had to change right then. At first hubby and me went to our local Wal Mart to buy a new toy box. But guess what, they don't sell them. So here is what I came up with. The baby's pack n play has now turned into the new toy area. Now everything is neat and off the floor.
I think that it works out great for our family for now. So is there anything that you have done in your home that you feel was rather inventive? I am always up for new ideas.

That is a great idea. It doesn't work as well when kids are older since people wonder why you have a pack-n-play when your youngest child is 5. Ah well.

Really, who cares what people think. If my youngest was 5 and I had the pack n play in the basement, I would still use it, I don't give a ripe what people think. I have to be concerned with running this household and making sure that it runs as smoothly as possible. Even if I found a pack n play at a yard sell and not a toy box, I would still buy it because it would be a solution to a problem in my family. BTW, if your friends or family think that you are strange for thinking outside the box, they most likely will not say anything out loud and if they do, just consider the source and move on. I am not trying to be rude but I have 4 little girls age 5 and under and I am poor, I do what works. In fact I thinks it's cool when I come across a friend that thinks outside the box as I do. I once had a friend that hung her Christmas tree from the second story in her house so the children did not get to it. I had another friend that put her Christmas tree in a pack n play to keep the pets and baby safe.
